I
live in the beautiful Ozarks of Southwest Missouri, with my wife, Barbara.
As of August this year, we will be married 50 years. I have been
a woodcarver for over 40 years, and a woodcarving seminar instructor
for over 25 years. Growing
up, I was always interested in art in one form or another. I am self-taught,
learning many of my skills while working at Silver Dollar City, near Branson,
Missouri, for over 20 years. There I learned how to use and sharpen tools,
and how to "feel" the grain of the wood. I like to carve detail
and to carve authenticity. If I put chaps on a cowboy, they are
authentic. A Hawken rifle is identifiable as a Hawken rifle. I take
a lot of pride in a nice, well done carving, and my collectors appreciate
that.
