Carol resides in Clinton, Iowa with her husband Bob. Together they have 3 sons , one granddaughter and a lazy redbone coonhound.

She was introduced to woodcarving while a member of the Red River Valley Decorative Painters in North Dakota. Due to raising a family and several relocations the interest was put on the back burner until 2007. Seeing a collection of carved Santas inspired her to pursue her interest in woodcarving. Her first seminars at The International Woodcarvers Congress in 2008 with Mike Shipley and Phil and Vicki Bishop, cemented that interest.

Carol has taken seminars from many of the CCA members at various events in the Midwest, including the CCA Seminar in Converse and the International Woodcarvers Congress in Maquoketa, Iowa. She has also taken the design and carving classes that are offered with Marv Kaisersatt through Whillock Woodcarving in Minnesota.
Her close proximity to The International Woodcarvers Congress in Iowa has enabled her to take seminars with some of the best instructors in woodcarving and to be involved in the carving world in different capacities, including serving on several boards. She has promoted woodcarving through television , newspaper and radio opportunities.

She has competed in competitions in the Midwest . She won the CCA Merit Award in 2015, Third Best of Show in the CCA competition in 2018 , two Best of Show Awards and numerous other ribbons and awards.

Memberships include the Mississippi Valley Woodcarvers in Bettendorf, Iowa, The Affiliated Wood Carvers, the Wisconsin River Woodcarvers and the Eastern Woodland Carvers in Indiana.

Carving and decorative painting were both inspired by seeing the work of others. While raising a family and moving multiple times, creating it yourself was the best way to get something. Carol is a firm believer in taking advantage of the knowledge of others and encourages people to take seminars and continue learning.
