Jeff Bailey
Jeff Bailey, a resident of Tazewell, Virginia, began carving around 2007. Jeff started drawing at a very early age. Throughout school and his time in the Air Force, Jeff explored every medium available. During the 1980s and 1990s, one of his favorite mediums was sculpting and painting miniatures. At that time, he won several awards including a silver on the national level in Baltimore, Maryland.
In 2007 on a trip to Tennessee, Jeff bought a set of carving tools and was immediately hooked. He began as a self-taught carver. In later years, Jeff took numerous woodcarving classes, several from CCA members and some from realistic carvers as well. His carvings have won many awards including best of divisions, a best of show, and carvers’ choice best of show. Miniatures are still a favorite to carve for Jeff, and he has won multiple awards with his miniatures. He is particularly proud of a third best of show at a CCA competition with a two-inch miniature. Jeff has been associated with multiple carving clubs in Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina. He can be found teaching woodcarving and clay sculpting classes around his home in Virginia and surrounding areas. Since becoming a carver, Jeff has discovered that there are few better friends in life than carving friends.
Jeff’s spare time is always spent with his wife Vicki, his daughter Heather, son-in-law Stephen, and his three grandchildren Stephen, Jr., Kathryn and T.J.
