Jim Hiser lives in Carlisle, PA with his wife Joan.

He started carving in 2000 after attending his first Wood Carving show in Mechanicsburg, PA. He tried many styles of carving until taking his first caricature carving class with Peter Ortel, and immediately knew this was the style of carving he wanted to do. Always enjoying the humorous side of life, he found caricature carving allows him to express this. Jim has been fortunate to have carved with many members of the Caricature Carvers of America. He believes in promoting caricature carving and feels there is no better praise than to see people smiling and enjoys watching their expressions while looking at his carvings. He still participates in carving and art shows winning Best of Shows, People’s Choice, and many blue ribbons, although his biggest achievement in carving is being inducted into the Caricature Carvers of America.

Jim regularly demonstrates and judges at carving shows. He enjoys teaching and is available for a limited number of seminars each year.
