Vicki Bishop
Vicki Bishop of Elk City, OK came to caricature carving through her husband Phil Bishop. Phil had encouraged her to carve for seven years because of her natural art talent. In 1999, while Phil was teaching in MI along with Dave and Michele Stetson, Vicki took Dave’s night class of his Little Hombre. Michele sat next to her and helped her get through it. Needless to say she was hooked forever. With Phil’s encouragement, more experience, and confidence, she started to help in the seminars a little at a time. Before long she was a full time carving instructor. The carving duo was away from home 200 days a year, teaching approximately 25-30 seminars a year. They have since retired from the woodcarving circuit and are devoting their time to carving more one of a kind pieces and designing for their catalog of over 100 roughout designs. They plan to attend more woodcarving shows and to renew old friendships.
Vicki became a member of the Caricature Carvers of America in 2008.
Tip: Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Carve things that you normally wouldn’t carve. This will help your carving and your creativity.
